Amanda Nunes plans to defend title if she defeats Kayla Harrison at UFC 334
Amanda Nunes has stated she does not intend to retire immediately if she defeats Kayla Harrison for the bantamweight title at UFC 334. Speaking on the ‘Deep Waters’ podcast, the former two-division champion indicated that if she regains the belt, she intends to defend it at least once before deciding on her future.
Nunes, who previously retired in June 2023, explained that her return to mixed martial arts was driven by a longing for competition after experiencing burnout during her hiatus. She noted that she likely would have returned to the octagon even without the specific opportunity to fight Harrison.
The bout is scheduled for November 14 at Madison Square Garden. Harrison, who previously won the title by submitting Julianna Pena, had been sidelined due to neck surgery, which caused the initial delay of their matchup.
