Amanda Owen describes screens as a lifeline for her farming family

Yorkshire shepherdess Amanda Owen has stated that digital screens serve as a “lifeline” for her family and her farming business. Speaking to the Press Association, the 52-year-old explained that media presence has allowed for farm diversification, which she notes is essential as the farming industry faces difficult conditions.

Owen, who stars in the documentary series ‘Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive And Kids’, does not set strict limits on screen time for her nine children. She noted that the remote nature of Ravenseat Farm in Swaledale, North Yorkshire, provides ample outdoor activities and animals to keep her children engaged, while the fact that internet access is limited to the farmhouse provides a natural balance.
