Amanda Porter assumes leadership of U.S. Embassy in Bolivia
Amanda Porter has assumed her role as the Chargé d'affaires at the United States Embassy in La Paz, Bolivia. She succeeds Erik Martini, who had served in an interim capacity since June.
A career Foreign Service officer with over 20 years of experience across Africa, Europe, and South America, Porter previously served as Minister Counselor at the same mission. Her professional background includes roles in Uruguay, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Colombia, and Portugal.
Her appointment coincides with an effort by the administration of President Rodrigo Paz Pereira to mend and strengthen bilateral ties with Washington. Recent diplomatic activity includes meetings between Paz and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Porter’s primary objectives will include supporting the Bolivian economy, combating corruption, and coordinating efforts against transnational crime and other threats.
