Amantea Comics concludes ninth edition in Italy

The ninth edition of the independent festival Amantea Comics – WHO RUN THE WORLD? concluded on August 22 at Parco Comunale La Grotta in Amantea, Italy. Established in 2018 in memory of Stefania Mari, the event featured artists, illustrators, and exhibitors focusing on pop culture and various forms of creativity.

Key highlights included a debate on dubbing with guests Sara Giacopello, Dimitri Winter, and Pasquale Severino, and a special program commemorating the 80th anniversary of the first French publication of ‘The Little Prince’. For the first time, excerpts of the work were read in the local Amantea dialect using Salvatore Sciandra’s translation.

The festival also hosted musical performances, discussions on Greek mythology, and the presentation of the graphic novel ‘Scusa94’ by Andrea Belcastro and Fabio Gaudio. Additionally, an exhibition titled ‘Se io non voglio tu non puoi’, developed by the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples in collaboration with COMICON and the Fondazione Una Nessuna Centomila, addressed themes of consent and gender-based violence through visual language.
