Amantea political debate intensifies over 2026 budget vote

Political tension has resurfaced in Amantea following the delayed explanation from the “Cambiamo Rotta” group regarding their favorable vote for the 2026 municipal forecast budget. Although the budget was approved over two months ago, the minority group only recently clarified that their vote was an act of institutional responsibility rather than an endorsement of the majority administration.

Walter Giampà has criticized this delay, arguing that a technical distinction between a forecast budget and a final report does not resolve the underlying political question. Giampà questioned why the justifications were withheld for two months and noted that administrative actions do not automatically translate into tangible results for citizens.

The situation highlights the ambiguous position of “Cambiamo Rotta,” which formally remains in the opposition but has frequently provided stability to the Pellegrino administration, leading to debates over the distinction between political opposition and institutional support.
