Amapá government initiates planning for new penal police exam

The Government of Amapá has begun preliminary discussions and studies for a new public selection process for the state's penal system. The initiative follows a meeting between the Secretary of Administration, Cinthya Mendes, the Institute of Penitentiary Administration of Amapá (Iapen AP), and the Penal Police Union.

The upcoming selection is expected to include positions for penal police officers, technicians (formerly social educators at the secondary level), and specialists (formerly social educators at the higher education level) focused on prisoner rehabilitation. While the specific number of vacancies has not yet been announced, an organizing committee will be formed to conduct the necessary studies.

The role of penal police officer requires a higher education degree and a valid driver's license (category B or higher). The specialist career path includes various roles such as social workers, psychologists, lawyers, nurses, and engineers. This move follows the recent legal creation of the Amapá Penal Police, which aims to establish a total force of 1,223 officers.
