Amapá prison official dismissed over police major's death

Márcio Douglas Moraes Amanajás, the deputy director of the Amapá Penitentiary Administration Institute (Iapen-AP), has been removed from his position following an investigation into the death of Military Police Major Anderson Fernandes.

The incident occurred on September 27 in the South Zone of Macapá after a dispute at a bar. Security footage reportedly shows the major attempting to mediate a discussion before shots were fired. Witnesses stated that a suspect exited the bar and shot the major while he was already on the ground. Amanajás was among four prison officers taken to the Civil Police for questioning regarding the incident.
