Amar’e Stoudemire graduates from police academy to begin law enforcement career

Former NBA All-Star Amar’e Stoudemire has graduated from the Miami-Dade Police Academy, transitioning from professional basketball to a career in law enforcement. Stoudemire, a Hall of Fame inductee who played for teams including the Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks, completed approximately 11 months of rigorous training at Miami Dade College’s School of Justice.

During his time at the academy, Stoudemire received the Harry ‘Coach’ Everett Award for his contributions to the program's success. He noted that the physical demands of the academy, particularly long-distance running, were different from the short-burst conditioning required in the NBA.

Stoudemire will join the Miami-Dade County Schools Police Department. He stated that becoming a police officer has been a childhood ambition and is a family tradition, noting that several of his relatives have served as officers and captains.
