Amasra and Bartın report record aquaculture and tourism growth
The new fishing season has officially commenced in Amasra, Bartın, marked by a ceremony at the Amasra Large Harbor. Local officials, including Bartın Governor Nurtaç Arslan and AK Party MP Yusuf Ziya Aldatmaz, emphasized the economic and cultural importance of the maritime sector.
According to Bartın Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Murat Türkmen, Turkey's aquaculture production reached a record high of over 1 million tons in 2025. In Bartın specifically, approximately 1,450 tons of sea fish were produced through fishing in 2025, alongside 240 tons of sea snails and 17.5 tons through aquaculture.
In addition to the fishing industry, the Amasra district is experiencing a significant tourism boom. Melih Saylam, President of the Amasra Culture and Tourism Association, reported that the district hosted over 1 million domestic and foreign tourists in the first eight months of the year, representing 151 times its population of 6,600. Officials expect visitor numbers to reach 1.5 million by the end of the year.
