Amasra search continues for missing miner after boat sinks

Search and rescue operations are underway in the Amasra district of Bartın, Turkey, for İlker Mızrap, a 43-year-old mine worker who went missing after setting out to fish. Mızrap had sent a final message to his wife stating, “I caught the fish, I am coming,” before losing contact.

Security camera footage has provided a significant development, showing the moment Mızrap’s boat appeared to sink rapidly near Tavşan Island. Following this discovery, search efforts have been concentrated in the waters off Amasra.

The operation involves the Coast Guard, AFAD, gendarmerie, and police, utilizing helicopters, boats, drones, and underwater imaging systems capable of scanning up to 38 meters deep. The search area has expanded significantly due to wind and currents, covering a wide stretch from Zonguldak to Kastamonu and extending into international waters. Local fishermen and volunteers are also assisting in the search.
