Amasya authorities investigate death of man at disabled care center

Authorities have launched both judicial and administrative investigations following the death of a 32-year-old man with autism at the Özel Merzifon Tekin Disabled Care Center in the Merzifon district of Amasya.

The individual, identified as Sinan Gündoğdu, reportedly suffered a seizure on August 11, 2026. Despite medical interventions by facility staff and subsequent transport to a hospital by emergency services, he passed away that same night.

The Merzifon District Governorate stated that all relevant information, documents, and camera footage have been submitted to judicial authorities. An administrative inquiry has been initiated by the Governor's Office, and a request has been made to the Ministry of Family and Social Services to appoint inspectors to clarify the circumstances of the death.
