Amasya courthouse employee dies in bicycle accident

Orhan Çelebi, a 38-year-old switchboard operator at the Amasya Courthouse, has died following a bicycle accident. The incident occurred last Tuesday in the Savadiye neighborhood while Çelebi was commuting to work. He reportedly lost balance and struck curb stones, resulting in severe injuries.

After being transported to the hospital by medical teams, Çelebi succumbed to his injuries three days later despite intensive medical intervention.

A funeral ceremony was held in front of the Amasya Courthouse, attended by Amasya Governor Önder Bakan, Chief Public Prosecutor Faruk Kaynak, and Justice Commission President Musab Kurt. Following the ceremony, his body was sent to his hometown of Malatya for burial.

Family members noted that Çelebi, an earthquake survivor from the February 6, 2023, disaster, had specifically chosen to live and work in Amasya. Members of the local cycling community and the Yeşilay Amasya branch also expressed their condolences.
