Turkey fishing reports feature massive catfish catches and seasonal abundance

Various fishing activities and notable catches have been reported across different regions in Turkey. In Denizli, three amateur fishermen from Afyonkarahisar caught two massive catfish at the Recep Yazıcıoğlu Dam Lake, estimated to weigh approximately 120 and 85 kilograms. Following a ‘catch and release’ principle, the fishermen returned the large fish to the water to support conservation.

In Sivas, anglers in the Kızılırmak river reported catching a 190-centimeter-long catfish weighing 45 kilograms. Meanwhile, in Bolu, the end of the fishing ban in the Black Sea has led to an abundance of bonito, which is being sold for 125 TL per piece, driving significant interest in local fish markets.

In Tekirdağ, amateur fishermen continue to gather at the Rumeli Pier during evening hours. Local hobbyists have noted a decrease in fish circulation in the area, attributing the decline to a lack of adequate feeding and spawning grounds for marine life.
