Amateur football clubs in Germany face severe player shortages

Several amateur football clubs in Germany are struggling with significant personnel shortages due to injuries, suspensions, and professional commitments.

TuS Holzkirchen is facing a difficult period ahead of its final home match against SB DJK Rosenheim. Coach Orhan Akkurt reported that the team has earned only one point from its last three matches. The squad is currently dealing with numerous suspensions and injuries, particularly in the central defense, including the absence of captain Lukas Krepek.

Similarly, TSV Grünwald is entering a match against SB Chiemgau Traunstein with a severely depleted roster. Trainer Sebastian Koch noted that the club is dealing with an extraordinary situation where approximately twelve players are unavailable. Reasons for the absences include red card suspensions, illness, professional obligations, and personal matters, leaving the team with very few available substitutes.
