Amatis Trio to perform ‘Humanity in War’ in Lisbon and Barcelona

The Amatis Trio will present their interdisciplinary program, ‘Humanity in War’, on October 18 and 20. The performances are scheduled to take place at the Fundação Gulbenkian in Lisbon and the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona.

Featuring German singer Thomas Quasthoff as a narrator, the project combines musical works by composers such as Korngold, Webern, Schubert, Schumann, Shostakovich, Fritz Kreisler, and Rebecca Clarke with readings from letters and diaries written during World War I (1914–1918). The program aims to highlight the personal human experiences behind wartime statistics, using the letters to illustrate the connection between art and the desire for tolerance and respect.
