Amauri Siviero, prominent Embrapa researcher, dies in Acre
Amauri Siviero, a prominent agronomist and researcher for Embrapa Acre, has passed away in Rio Branco following a battle with liver cancer. He died in the early hours of Monday.
Siviero had been a researcher with Embrapa since 1994, contributing significantly to the study of agrobiodiversity and traditional cultivation systems in the Amazon, particularly in the Juruá Valley. He also served as a professor for the Postgraduate Program in Biodiversity and Biotechnology of Western Amazonia, linked to the Federal University of Acre (Ufac).
His academic legacy includes several published works on agroecology, ethnobotany, and the conservation of agricultural and forest technologies in Acre. He is survived by his wife, Rosana Cavalcante dos Santos, a professor and former rector of the Federal Institute of Acre (Ifac), and four children.
