AmaWaterways to launch Europe’s largest river cruise ship on the Danube

The European river cruise industry is experiencing significant growth, with approximately 1.5 million passengers traveling via river cruises in 2025, marking an 8% increase from the previous year. Demand is being driven by a preference for smaller vessels, longer stays in historical cities, and a focus on wellness and cultural experiences.

To meet this demand, AmaWaterways is preparing to launch Europe’s largest river cruise ship on the Danube next spring. The vessel is designed to accommodate 196 guests across 98 cabins and suites, featuring balcony suites ranging from 33 to 66 square meters. Onboard amenities include four distinct dining venues—Al Fresco, The Lark Lounge, The Chef’s Table, and Rudi’s Wine Bar—as well as a Zen Wellness Studio and a standard-sized pickleball court.
