OpenAI expands ChatGPT advertising with Sponsored Agents and new business integrations

OpenAI is expanding its advertising capabilities through several new features and partnerships. A major development is the testing of ‘Sponsored Agents’ in the United States, which allow users to engage in direct, clearly labeled conversations with business-sponsored AI agents after clicking an ad. These interactions are kept separate from the user’s original chat and ChatGPT’s organic responses.

To support advertisers, OpenAI is introducing an Ads Manager plugin for ChatGPT Work, enabling campaign management via plain-language prompts, and providing AI-driven creative tools for copy and imagery. The company is also integrating its advertising platform with key business tools, naming HubSpot as its first CRM partner and Shopify as its first e-commerce partner.

Global expansion is underway, with ChatGPT Ads already active in 31 European markets, including Belgium and Luxembourg, as of late August 2026. In Brazil, which serves as OpenAI’s third-largest market with over 50 million monthly active users, the platform is also accepting advertisers. Additionally, a partnership with Amazon Ads allows Amazon advertisers to run ads within the platform, initially focusing on the United States.
