Amazon and Alphabet secure nuclear power deals with Constellation Energy

Major technology companies Amazon and Alphabet (Google) have entered into long-term agreements with Constellation Energy to secure nuclear power for their expanding data center operations in the United States.

Alphabet has committed to purchasing 3,590 MW of electricity through Constellation. This deal includes 890 MW of new capacity generated by upgrading 11 existing reactors across Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, alongside 2,700 MW of additional supply from existing facilities for a 15-year term. The agreement involves over $4.3 billion in investment from Constellation to support these upgrades and operations.

Amazon has also signed a 20-year commitment to purchase electricity from the Calvert Cliffs Clean Energy Center in Maryland. These moves highlight a growing trend among AI and data center operators to utilize nuclear energy as a scalable, reliable power source to meet increasing electricity demands.
