Amazon and Riachuelo announce major retail expansions

Amazon plans to construct a massive 21,000-square-meter physical retail store in Orland Park, Illinois, near Chicago. The facility is designed to compete directly with large-scale retailers like Walmart, featuring a space larger than typical Walmart supercenters. The new concept will offer a wide variety of products, including fresh groceries, household essentials, and general merchandise.

In Brazil, the retail giant Riachuelo has opened a 416-square-meter concept store on Rua Oscar Freire in São Paulo. The three-story location integrates fashion with art curation and is intended to serve as a model for modernizing the company’s network of over 300 stores. Riachuelo plans to open 14 new units and renovate seven others during the second half of 2026.
