Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos outlines AI investment and $1 T revenue goal

Jeff Bezos said in a recent interview that he never set out to build the world’s largest company, but to serve customers better. He highlighted Amazon’s long‑standing “customer obsession” as the driver behind its rise from a garage in Bellevue, Washington, to topping the Fortune Global 500 for the first time with the highest worldwide revenue.

Amazon now aims to become the first firm to exceed $1 trillion in annual revenue. After stepping down as CEO in 2021 and handing the role to Andy Jassy, Bezos remains executive chairman and is involved in strategic planning. The company plans to invest roughly $200 billion by 2026, chiefly in Amazon Web Services and generative‑AI infrastructure, and has struck multi‑billion‑dollar deals with Meta and Anthropic. The firm also faces antitrust scrutiny in the United States and ongoing labor‑rights debates.
