Amazon clarifies Kindle heating during routine use

Amazon has clarified that slight heating in Kindle devices is often a normal result of hardware exertion during specific tasks. According to Danielle Casotti, Head of Amazon Devices in Brazil, heat is generated by the processor and screen during activities such as downloading large content libraries, syncing files to the cloud, charging the battery, or reading for extended periods with the front light at maximum brightness.

These devices are designed to operate within an ambient temperature range of 0°C to 35°C. The manufacturer notes that heating is considered expected behavior if it is transient and disappears once the intensive task is completed.

However, users should seek assistance if the device becomes excessively hot to the touch or is accompanied by malfunctions. Warning signs of an abnormal condition include frequent freezing, unexpected shutdowns, or abnormal battery consumption. In such cases, Amazon recommends contacting customer service.
