Amazon expands Indian logistics network with ₹2,800 crore investment

Amazon is significantly expanding its logistics and operations network in India as part of a ₹2,800 crore (approximately €255 million) investment. The expansion aims to prepare for increased order volumes during the upcoming festive shopping season.

The infrastructure boost includes the addition of 150 last-mile delivery stations across 118 cities, 20 new fulfillment centers, and six new sortation centers. This expansion increases the company’s total storage capacity in India by 50%, reaching approximately 64 million cubic feet (1.8 million cubic meters).

A key focus of the expansion is decentralization, with a move toward Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets. Seven of the new fulfillment centers and all six sortation centers are located outside major metropolitan areas. Additionally, 12 locations will receive Amazon delivery stations for the first time. These facilities will be operated and managed by external logistics service providers.
