James Bond game 007 First Light sells nearly 3 million copies, Amazon to publish sequels
IO Interactive’s James Bond title 007 First Light moved close to 3 million units in its first week, becoming the studio’s fastest‑selling release. The game’s budget, reported at about $200 million when including development, marketing and staff bonuses, is among the highest for a new triple‑A title.
Amazon Games, which now owns the Bond IP, will handle publishing of future Bond games, while IO Interactive will continue development. At Summer Game Fest the studio unveiled a year‑one roadmap that adds new story DLC featuring pirate king Bawama, new TacSim challenges, a new gadget, a New Game+ mode and a photo mode. A Nintendo Switch version is slated for summer 2026, and a PC update with path‑tracing support is also planned.
The strong sales performance and critical praise have positioned 007 First Light as a major commercial success for the franchise and set the stage for expanded Bond‑related content across Amazon’s entertainment platforms.
