Amazon Games to Publish Future James Bond Video Games after MGM Acquisition

Amazon Games will take over publishing of upcoming James Bond video games, working with MGM. Jeff Gattis, GM of gaming at Amazon, confirmed in a Polygon interview that future sequels will be released by Amazon and MGM rather than IO Interactive, which self‑published the 2023 title “007 First Light.”

Amazon bought MGM in 2021 and assumed full creative control of the Bond IP in 2025. “We did not [make First Light],” Gattis said, noting the company now owns the franchise and will back future projects financially. The first game sold 1.5 million copies in its first 24 hours and ended with the message “James Bond will return.” While IO Interactive is expected to continue developing the series, Amazon’s involvement aims to integrate the games with its Prime Video ecosystem, mirroring its strategy with new Tomb Raider titles. An Amazon spokesperson added, “Amazon MGM holds the rights to any future James Bond video games but it’s still too early to discuss future projects.”
