Amazon invests $100 million in new Indiana robotics plant

Amazon is investing $100 million in a new industrial facility in Greenwood, Indiana, dedicated to the production of industrial robots. The plant will focus on advanced manufacturing processes, including robotic welding, automated powder coating, and final assembly.

The facility will integrate AWS cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence to manage software, sensors, and continuous process controls. This site aims to increase the production of robots for Amazon’s global logistics and warehouse network, joining existing operations in Massachusetts and a planned hub in Austin, Texas.

The expansion is expected to create approximately 300 specialized technical roles. Local officials noted that average salaries for these positions are expected to be near $100,000 annually, significantly exceeding regional manufacturing averages.
