Amazon Italy faces union dispute over contract transfer and launches solidarity holiday program
Italian unions representing airport ground staff said Amazon and the new contractor Gda failed to attend a meeting scheduled to discuss the transfer of Amazon's operations from Malpensa to the Brescia‑Montichiari site. The talks, set for September 8, 2026, concern roughly 190 workers whose jobs could be at risk, and the unions called the absence a sign of “scarsa attenzione” to employees and their families. They urged a new round of negotiations to ensure job continuity.
Separately, Amazon Italy Logistics announced a voluntary “solidarity holidays” scheme for permanent staff. Under the program, employees can anonymously donate paid leave and permits to colleagues dealing with serious personal or family crises, with requests capped at 30 days. HR director Salvatore Iorio said the policy extends existing collective‑bargaining provisions and aims to provide concrete support for workers facing severe, temporary, or disabling situations.
