Amazon Kuiper licensed for satellite network in Vietnam
Amazon Kuiper Vietnam has been granted a license by Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology to establish a private telecommunications network using satellite transmission. The license, presented in New York by Minister Vu Hai Quan in the presence of President To Lam, allows the company to test and verify the operation of customer terminal equipment manufactured in Vietnam.
The network will connect satellite systems with ground infrastructure across Vietnam to evaluate the quality of locally produced products. This initiative aims to support high-tech industries and expand supply chains. Amazon’s Project Kuiper intends to deploy a constellation of over 3,000 low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites to provide high-speed, low-latency internet, specifically targeting remote areas, islands, and regions where traditional infrastructure is unavailable or disrupted by natural disasters.
