Amazon launches Alexa+ in Brazil
Amazon announced the rollout of Alexa+, a generative‑AI‑enhanced version of its virtual assistant, for Brazilian users. The service, tied to the Amazon Prime subscription, offers more natural, contextual conversations and can perform complex tasks.
About 98% of Echo and Fire TV devices sold in recent years are compatible, including Echo Dot (2nd gen and later), Echo Pop, Echo Show models and Fire TV Stick 4K variants. Older first‑generation Echo hardware will continue to run the classic Alexa without the new features. Users can request access through voice command or via the Alexa+ page on Amazon, with the upgrade being released gradually.
Amazon has not disclosed a local price; the US subscription costs US$19.99 per month. The launch comes as Apple prepares a new Siri version slated for September, highlighting growing competition in the AI‑driven smart‑assistant market.
