Amazon launches Bee AI wearable devices for conversation tracking
Amazon has introduced its new Bee AI device family, designed to record, transcribe, and organize information from daily conversations. Following the acquisition of the startup Bee in July 2025, the technology aims to act as a digital memory for meetings, classes, and interviews, transforming spoken details into useful summaries and reminders.
The product lineup includes two models: the Bee Frontier, a $74.99 wearable that can be used as a wristband or clipped to clothing, and the Bee Eclipse, a $99.99 magnetic accessory for smartphones. The Frontier model features dual noise-reducing microphones, IP67 water resistance, and a seven-day battery life. While the Frontier is currently available in the United States, the release date for the Eclipse has not yet been confirmed.
A key feature of the Bee ecosystem is its integration with Amazon’s retail platform. The AI can identify mentions of needs—such as health issues or household items—to provide tailored shopping suggestions. Amazon states that the shopping connection is optional and that the devices process audio in real time, discarding the original sound while keeping encrypted transcripts that users can manage or delete.
The launch has raised privacy concerns regarding consent, particularly when third parties are recorded without their knowledge. Critics have compared the potential for sensitive data extraction to previous controversies involving smart wearable technology.
