Amazon launches Hindi‑language Alexa+ beta in India

Amazon has opened a closed beta for its next‑generation voice assistant, Alexa+, with Hindi language support in India. Selected users are invited to register via a form by 22 June to test the service, which aims to understand code‑mixed Hindi‑English speech used by hundreds of millions of Indians. The company warns that beta software may contain bugs, inaccurate answers or mispronunciations and does not provide a commercial launch date.

The rollout reflects Amazon’s strategy to expand generative AI voice interfaces in emerging markets, leveraging local linguistic nuances to increase adoption of voice‑controlled devices. Alexa+ already operates in English in India, and this test seeks to tailor the assistant to the country’s bilingual spoken habits.
