Amazon launches new Melania Trump documentary series on Prime
Amazon announced that a new documentary series about former U.S. first lady Melania Trump will debut on its Prime platform in the autumn. The series, promoted by Real America's Voice senior adviser Mark Bekman, will follow Trump during the early months of her husband Donald Trump's second term and aim to show aspects of her private life and humanitarian work that have not been seen before.
The series follows the earlier documentary film "Melania," produced by Amazon MGM Studios, which proved a financial loss. Amazon paid $40 million for the film’s rights and spent an additional $35 million on marketing, with $28 million of that amount paid directly to the former first lady. The film earned only $16.6 million worldwide against a $75 million budget, generating $10.71 million in licensing revenue for the Trump family. Founder Jeff Bezos defended the investment as a sound business decision and insisted the partnership was not politically motivated.
