Amazon Mexico launches smartphone trade-in program

Amazon Mexico has launched ‘Amazon Trade-In’, a program allowing users to exchange eligible smartphones for Amazon gift cards. Managed in partnership with the Mexican circular technology company Reducto, the initiative aims to convert used devices into purchasing power while reducing electronic waste in the country.

The process involves selecting a model, receiving an offer, and shipping the device via FedEx at no cost. Once the device undergoes physical and functional validation, the payment is issued in less than 24 business hours. Currently, the program accepts specific Apple models (from iPhone X to iPhone 15) and Samsung models (from Galaxy S20 to Galaxy S25 FE).

Participants are limited to exchanging two devices every six months. To be eligible, devices must be completely unlocked—without iCloud, Google, MDM, or carrier locks—and must have a clean IMEI status with no reports of theft, loss, or fraud.
