Prime Video casts leads for 'Fourth Wing' series

Prime Video is moving forward with a high-budget television adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’ bestselling 'romantasy' novel series, 'Fourth Wing'. Industry reports indicate that Esther McGregor and Emilio Sakrayi have been cast in the lead roles of Violet Sorrengail and Xaden Riorson, respectively.

McGregor, daughter of actor Ewan McGregor, will portray Violet, a scholar forced into a brutal military academy to become a dragon rider. Sakrayi, a German actor known for 'Those About to Die', will play Xaden, a mysterious and dangerous cadet. The production is being led by showrunner Meredith Averill, with involvement from Amazon MGM Studios, Outlier Society, and Kilter Films.

The announcement has sparked significant debate among the book's massive fanbase on social media. While some readers are excited about the casting, others have expressed caution regarding how the actors will embody the characters from the original text. The series, which is part of the Empyrean Saga, is currently targeted for a 2027 release.
