Amazon MGM Studios to develop Squishmallows feature film

Amazon MGM Studios is developing a tentpole family film based on the Squishmallows brand. The project is being produced in collaboration with Jazwares, the creator of the popular plush toy line, and producer Beau Flynn.

Squishmallows has grown into a billion-dollar business since its 2017 launch, with over 600 million units sold globally and a library of more than 3,000 unique characters. The brand has maintained significant cultural relevance through social media, amassing billions of views on platforms like TikTok.

While the studio has not confirmed if the film will be animated, live-action, or a hybrid, the move follows a trend of successful toy-to-film adaptations such as ‘Barbie’. Beau Flynn, whose credits include ‘Moana’ and ‘Red Notice’, is attached to the project alongside Shelby Thomas, who will oversee production for the FlynnPictureCo banner.
