Amazon One biometric payment system to be discontinued

Amazon is discontinuing its Amazon One biometric payment system. The technology, which allowed users to pay by scanning their palm to create a biometric signature linked to a payment method, will be phased out at participating locations starting June 3, 2026.

Launched in 2020 and expanded to over 500 Whole Foods supermarkets in the United States by 2023, the service had reached over 3 million uses. The discontinuation was confirmed by updated terms from American Express regarding the service.
