Amazon orders fashion drama series Bella From Barneys

Amazon MGM Studios has ordered a new fashion drama series titled ‘Bella From Barneys’. Created, executive produced, and showrun by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage of Fake Empire, the series will stream exclusively on Prime Video.

The show follows Bella Baldwin, a stylish outsider from outside Manhattan who secures a position in the stock room of the revived Barneys New York. She eventually maneuvers into a role as a personal shopper for a prominent socialite, navigating the competitive fashion industry, family secrets, and efforts to keep the family business operational.

Schwartz and Savage, who previously collaborated on the Prime Video series ‘Sterling Point’, described the opportunity to build a fictional world around Barneys as a dream, noting the retailer was a cultural touchstone and a New York institution. The series order is part of Fake Empire’s first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios. The production involves partners including Authentic Brands Group, Susan Rovner, and Rachel Kaplan.
