Amazon set for earnings boost from Anthropic stake as AWS India posts tenfold profit rise
Amazon (AMZN) is expected to report strong second‑quarter earnings on July 30, driven by continued growth in its cloud division, Amazon Web Services, and a sizable mark‑to‑market increase from its 21% holding in AI startup Anthropic. Bank of America analysts note that Anthropic, valued at about $965 billion in a confidential IPO filing, could lift the worth of Amazon’s stake to roughly $202.6 billion, implying a potential paper gain of around $128 billion for the quarter.
Separately, Amazon Web Services India Pvt Ltd disclosed a more than tenfold jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 242.8 crore for fiscal year 2026, with consolidated revenue rising about 21% to Rs 20,225.6 crore. Standalone net profit fell 14% to Rs 242.4 crore, while standalone revenue grew 21.4% to the same Rs 20,225.6 crore figure. These results highlight rapid expansion of Amazon’s cloud operations in India alongside its broader corporate financial momentum.
