Amazon's AWS revenue surges 37% as stock climbs over 9%

Amazon reported a second‑quarter 2026 revenue of $200.61 billion, topping analysts' estimate of $196.47 billion. Earnings were $5.75 per share, well above the $1.82 forecast. Amazon Web Services generated $42.2 billion in revenue, a 37 % year‑over‑year increase and the fastest growth in the past 18 quarters, beating Wall Street expectations.

CEO Andy Jassy said demand for artificial‑intelligence services and Amazon’s own chips is driving the cloud boom. The company lifted its annual capital‑expenditure outlook by 10 % to $220 billion to keep pace with AI‑driven infrastructure needs. Pending AWS contracts rose to $496 billion from $364 billion a quarter earlier. Free cash flow turned negative, with $7.6 billion of cash consumed over the latest 12‑month period compared with a $18.2 billion surplus the year before.
