Amazon Prime Day drives $26.4 B US consumer spending, up 9% YoY

During the four‑day Amazon Prime Day sale from June 23‑26, U.S. shoppers spent more than $26.4 billion, according to Adobe Analytics data. That total marks a 9.3% increase over the previous year and reflects heightened demand for electronics, appliances, baby products, and everyday items.

Analysts attribute the rise to high inflation prompting consumers to seek larger discounts, as well as recent tax‑refund payouts that boosted discretionary purchasing power. Large discounts led many buyers to select higher‑priced goods, prompting retailers to keep deep promotions in place to clear inventory before the holiday season.
