Amazon Prime Video achieves profitability and high revenue
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced that Prime Video has become a profitable business and is on track to generate tens of billions of dollars in revenue. This development follows the company’s $8.5 billion acquisition of MGM four years ago.
Amazon MGM Studios has reported over $1.2 billion in global box office sales this year. A primary driver of this success is the film Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling, which has grossed an estimated $684 million worldwide. Other successful series include Fallout, The Boys, and Reacher, with the fourth season of Reacher attracting 66 million global viewers within its first 28 days.
Sports content has also contributed to the platform's growth. While Amazon broadcasts NASCAR, the Masters, and UEFA Champions League, Thursday Night Football has emerged as a major highlight, averaging 17.7 million viewers over the first six games of the season, representing a 16% increase from the previous year.
