Amazon Prime Video develops new RoboCop series

Amazon Prime Video is developing a new RoboCop television series, with producer James Wan confirming that original film director Paul Verhoeven will participate in the project. While Verhoeven's specific role has not been disclosed, he will collaborate with the creative team at Atomic Monster.

The series, created by Peter Ocko, is expected to consist of eight episodes. Original screenwriters Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner are also serving as executive producers. Dan Stevens has been cast to portray the lead character, Alex Murphy, succeeding Peter Weller.

A significant creative shift for the franchise involves the nature of the protagonist. Unlike the original films, which featured a cyborg hybrid, the series will reportedly feature a human consciousness transferred into an entirely robotic body. Production is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2027.
