Amazon Prime Video Leads US Cord-Cutter Viewership and Secures Record Streaming Ad Commitments
A survey of more than 1,200 U.S. cord‑cutters found that 67.5% watched Amazon Prime Video in the past month, putting the service ahead of Netflix (54.1%) and other platforms such as Paramount+, YouTube and Peacock. Respondents cited the bundling of Prime Video with Amazon Prime’s free‑shipping benefits as a key factor, and most households juggled three to five streaming subscriptions.
During the 2026 advertising upfront, Amazon reported a 17.9% rise in streaming ad commitments, reaching $13.2 billion and exceeding its volume goal. Advertising demand was driven by sports properties like Thursday Night Football, NBA on Prime and NASCAR, as well as original series. The growth contrasts with declines in broadcast and cable ad spending, highlighting the shift of advertiser dollars toward streaming inventory.
