Amazon Prime Video linear TV channel to shut down

Prime Video launched a linear TV channel in February 2025 as a curated, always‑on offering that combined live sports, series hits and original productions. The channel, marketed as a bridge between streaming and traditional broadcasting, aired programmes such as "The Boys", "Luden" and live Wimbledon and Champions League matches.

A spokesperson for Prime Video confirmed that the channel will cease operations on 1 August, after just 16 months on air. No new programme data have been entered in the August electronic programme guide, signalling the end of the service. All on‑demand content will remain available on Prime Video, and other live TV offerings and more than 500 FAST channels will continue.

The initiative was driven by Christoph Schneider, former Country Director for Prime Video Germany, who described the channel as a "showroom" for customers accustomed to linear TV. Schneider has since left the company. The shutdown marks the conclusion of the experiment, with no official press release yet, but industry portals report the termination.
