Amazon Prime Video reveals new details for Blade Runner 2099

Amazon Prime Video has released new preview images and details for the upcoming limited series Blade Runner 2099, scheduled to premiere on November 25. Set in Los Angeles in the year 2099, the series takes place fifty years after the events of Blade Runner 2049. Showrunner Silka Luisa noted that the timeline includes a replicant uprising where humanity has lost power, leaving replicants as the city's power brokers and humans as second-class citizens.

The story follows Olwen, a veteran Blade Runner played by Michelle Yeoh, and a mysterious recruit named Cora, played by Hunter Schafer. Together, they investigate a conspiracy rooted in the city's history. Schafer described a physically demanding interrogation scene involving her character being restrained and covered in a medicinal substance used for replicants.

The series aims to explore themes of humanity and identity, drawing inspiration from the tone of Philip K. Dick’s novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.
