Amazon proposes 1,000 daily drone flights in Connecticut
Amazon is proposing a significant expansion of its drone delivery operations in North Haven, Connecticut. The company aims to conduct up to 1,000 MK30 drone delivery flights per day from its local warehouse, totaling approximately 365,000 flights annually. The proposed service area covers a 7.5-mile radius, encompassing roughly 174 square miles and reaching into areas such as Hamden, Wallingford, and New Haven.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has requested concurrence from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection regarding the plan. A public comment period is currently open, allowing residents to voice concerns until October 1. Potential issues raised by the project include noise levels, with some assessments citing levels as high as 92.1 decibels, as well as general community safety.
