Amazon raises prices on Echo, Kindle, and Fire TV devices

Amazon has implemented significant price increases across its consumer electronics lineup, including Echo smart speakers, Kindle e-readers, Fire TV streaming devices, and eero networking gear. Some products have seen price jumps of up to 60%, such as the Echo Dot, which rose from $49.99 to $79.99.

The company attributed these adjustments to “significant increases in memory and storage component costs.” This price surge is linked to a broader industry-wide memory crunch, driven largely by the massive demand for memory chips to support AI infrastructure and data centers.

This trend is not unique to Amazon; other major technology firms like Apple and Microsoft have also faced rising component costs. In the UK and Italy, some retailers noted that while list prices have risen, ongoing sales may temporarily mask the increases for consumers. Amazon confirmed it held off on passing these costs to customers for as long as possible before making the adjustments.
