Amazon reaches $3 trillion valuation and tops Fortune Global 500

Amazon has reached a $3 trillion market valuation for the first time, driven by strong quarterly earnings and significant growth in Amazon Web Services (AWS). The company reported second-quarter revenue of $200.61 billion, surpassing forecasts, with AWS revenue rising 37% year-over-year to $42.2 billion.

In addition to its valuation milestone, Amazon has overtaken Walmart to rank first on the Fortune Global 500 list. Executive Chair Jeff Bezos emphasized that the company's scale should not overshadow its focus on customer service, reiterating a philosophy of ‘customer obsession.’

To support future growth, Amazon is heavily investing in artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure. The company spent $131 billion on capital projects in 2025 and expects that spending to reach approximately $200 billion in 2026. This investment includes custom silicon, such as the upcoming Trainium4 chip, and a significant commitment to the AI company Anthropic.

Amidst these milestones, a regulatory filing revealed that Jeff Bezos plans to sell approximately 15 million shares, valued at about $4.07 billion. The trades are being conducted under a Rule 10b5-1 arrangement established in November 2025.
