Amazon recalls 112,000 bottles of acetaminophen due to discoloration

Amazon is voluntarily recalling more than 112,000 bottles of Amazon Basic Care Extra Strength Pain Relief acetaminophen 500mg caplets. The recall was initiated in coordination with the manufacturer, Aurohealth, and the FDA following consumer complaints regarding discolored tablets.

The affected products include 14,640 bottles of 200-count caplets, 90,456 bottles of 500-count caplets, and 7,836 bottles of 1,000-count caplets. The manufacturer, Aurobindo Pharma USA Inc., produced the tablets in India.

Amazon stated that a Health Hazard Evaluation indicated the discoloration does not affect the safety or efficacy of the medication, and no adverse effects have been reported. The company is contacting customers who purchased the affected lots to issue refunds upon confirmation of product disposal. The recalled batches have expiration dates ranging from September 2027 to February 2028.
