Amazon recasts characters for God of War series

Amazon is recasting the characters Atreus and Thrud for its upcoming ‘God of War’ live-action series. Production is set to film the first and second seasons back-to-back in Vancouver starting this month.

The series has undergone significant changes following the departure of original Kratos actor Ryan Hurst due to a bicep injury. Amazon reportedly scrapped all previously filmed footage, and the first season is restarting with Dave Bautista in the lead role of Kratos.

While Callum Vinson and Island Austin were previously attached to the roles of Atreus and Thrud, it remains unclear if the new casting is intended for the first season or specifically for the second season, which is expected to feature a time jump into the ‘God of War Ragnarök’ era.
